"The Legacy Under the Bridge"
On the Field
The Edmonton Huskies Football Club was formed in 1947 as the
Edmonton Athletic Association and commenced play in the four-team
Alberta Junior Football League. In 1952, the Edmonton Oilers
and the Edmonton Wildcats were the two sponsors of the Edmonton
Football Association, until the Oilers became the Edmonton Huskies
in 1954.

The Huskies now play in the six-team Prairie Football Conference,
consisting of the Huskies, Edmonton Wildcats, Calgary Colts,
Regina Prairie Thunder, Saskatoon Hilltops, and Winnipeg Rifles.
The Canadian Junior Football League is represented by 20 teams
and competes annually for the national title known as the Canadian
Bowl
The Huskies colors of black and gold
were adopted in 1954. After a number of variations over the
years, the club in 1995 went back to the colors and style of
uniform worn by the Huskies of the 1962, 63, 64 era where the
Huskies were national champions.
Off the Field
As a non-profit organization, the Edmonton Huskies rely heavily
on the support of the Edmonton community in a number of ways.
In addition to corporate sponsorships, private donations and
player registration fees, the club also calls upon players,
parents and executive to work a variety of events to keep the
club economically sound.
Bingos, casinos and the popular 50-50 at all Edmonton Eskimo
home games are the main sources of revenue that allow the Huskies
to compete at this high level of competitive football. 100%
commitment is required of all members of the organization in
these fundraising activities all year long.
In the Classroom
The Huskies are highly in involved in developing their players
scholastically as well as physically. Any player attending a
post secondary institution while on the roster of the Huskies
is automatically eligible for a number of scholarships. The
only requirements are an acceptable grade point average and
a player in good standing, meaning that they have taken part
in all functions as a player as well as off the field fund raising
activities. With these types of programs the Edmonton Huskies
Football Club are dedicated building a player, both of strong
mind and character.
For the Edmonton Huskies the results off the field are as important
to the successes on the field. With the continued support of
an active executive, alumni, and parent support group, the Huskies
will assuredly continue to produce top quality athletes and
valuable members of the Edmonton community.
