Huskies
Coaches
"Five Decades of Players" "Five Decades of Coaches"
The
Edmonton Huskies have a long and proud history that spans 5
decades. Thousands of players, coaches, and executive have donned
the black and gold and waived the Huskies banner with pride.
As a way of maintaining our Huskies Heritage, we would like
to compile an on-line email list that would link past and present
Huskies and allow them to stay in touch with the team as they
battle for the coveted Canadian Bowl.
We encourage
any and all former Coaches to send a note to alumni@edmontonhuskies.com
so we can add you to our list and keep you
apprised of the developments of your team. Weekly media releases
will be sent to you regarding pregame/postgame summaries, player
of the week
selections and other relative media coverage.
A
MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
"On behalf
of the Edmonton Huskies Football Club I wish to welcome you
to our new website. You will find the navigation, contents and
frequent updates a refreshing and much needed improvement from
our previous site. We are wrapping up construction and will
be fully completed in the next few weeks.
In regard to the team, we are
entering a new season with a fresh look, a fresh coaching staff
and many new faces on the roster. We are pleased to welcome
Head Coach Dalton Smarsh into our organization and are confident
his knowledge of the game, coaching experience, and disciplined
approach will once again propel the Edmonton Huskies into national
championship contention. Dalton's staff is an eclectic group
with a combined coaching experience of over 100 years; but with
one goal, returning the Canadian Bowl to Huskie House.
The Board of Directors are looking at
new initiatives for the club, including wireless internet at
the clubhouse to help our players keep up their studies during
the season, enhanced field lighting, increased scholarship opportunities
including growing the Arlene Huhn Scholarship at NAIT, and long
term planning for our next fundraiser dinner.
We have a young, but
solid returning core of players and with opportunity for newcomers
to play as freshmen we are expecting a strong group of recruits
from across the province. Our football club should be disciplined,
smash-mouth, hard hitting and an exciting team to watch in 2008."

EXECUTIVE
Craig Alloway President
Craig is entering his second
year as President of the Edmonton Huskies Football Club, fourth
on the Board of Directors and fourteenth with the club. Craig
was an All-Canadian Defensive Lineman with the Huskies from
1989 to 1993 and was voted the team's MVP in 1993; a feat
he duplicated with the Golden Bears in 1997. As a National Championship
winning coach from 2000 to
2004, Craig prepared many of his players for success in the
CIS. He has been instrumental in creating the Arlene Huhn Scholarship
at NAIT and organizing the Warren Moon/Bryan Kelly Fundraiser
Dinner in June of 2007. Craig keeps a hectic schedule juggling
the demands of career, family and football but feels compelled
to provide opportunity for young men to play junior football.

to his first love, football and to the organization we all support.
Bob
Bula General Manager
When we speak of the Edmonton Huskies,
everyone knows the coaches and the players but very few know
the people behind the scenes. The heart of the Huskies are the
volunteers. One such volunteer is Bob, a Past President of the
Huskies, who leads the off field team of volunteers whether
it be bingo's or other fundraisers. Bob works closely with the
General Manager on day to day Football business and has been
involved with the Huskies since the late 1980's. Like everyone
else, Bob is very proud of the organization and the development
of the young men. Bob is President of Eskimo Excavators Ltd.

overall success of the team through his tireless work doing

avid sportsman having coached and managed hockey teams for ten
years and little league baseball for five years. Fred recently
retired after 40 years in the construction industry.
Darry Checknita Director

Darryl played four years of College football in the U. S. and
has over fifteen years coaching experience, including five years
with the Edmonton Huskies.
Ken-Myziuk
Assistant General Manager
Ken is an avid sportsman and obviously has a love for the game
of football. Ken has been a great addition to the Huskies since
he joined the club in 1998 and is one of the instrumental organizers
